Earthing - Γείωση

Last week I attended a two day seminar held by the Touchpoint instructors Peter Lund Frandsen and Dorthe Krogsgaard. The seminar itself was fantastic but they also shared with us a piece of information that is worth further sharing. It is called Earthing.

The biggest anti-inflammatory on the planet is the very planet itself. Basically, we live on top of a global treatment table!

Yup, get ready to take your shoes off!

According to Dr.Stephen Sinatra:
The Earth's surface energy takes the form of a virtually unlimited reservoir of free electrons, subatomic particles. When "uploaded" into your body as a result of direct physical contact with the ground, these electrons appear to quell the rampage of destructive free radicals at the basis of chronic pain and inflammation.

Our hypothesis is that this effect takes place as negatively-charged electrons - like reinforcements swarming into battle - suffuse the body, basically overwhelming and neutralizing positively-charged free radicals. Earthing, we say, remedies a commonplace electron deficiency and thus reduces or eliminates inflammation.

Stephen Sinatra, MD, FACC, FACN, CNS, is a board-certified cardiologist and certified bioenergetic analyst with more than 35 years of experience in helping patients prevent and reverse heart disease. His specialty is integrative cardiology that combines conventional medical treatments with complementary nutritional and psychological therapies.

Earthing, or grounding, refers to connecting your body directly with the Earth.

Earth is an electrical planet, charged with a subtle surface energy commonly known in the electrical world as "ground.” When in contact with the Earth, this tranquil energy naturally transfers to any conductive object—whether it is a metal rod, a wire, a tree or plant, an animal, or a barefoot human—and they become “grounded.”

The known effect of grounding is that it discharges and prevents the buildup of electrical stress. Walking barefoot on the Earth, as humans have done throughout history, naturally grounds and discharges the body. The most reported benefit from people who place their bare feet directly on the Earth and ground themselves is that they “feel better.”

Below are two videos that discuss Earthing and if you go to youtube you will find more. This information seems worth questioning and putting to the test. I am skeptical because unfortunately I see a possibility of a lot of Dollars or Euros being made by the products available for sale. Of course walking barefoot or lying on the grass is still free!

Spiros comments : Through Reflexology folklore and personal experience (anectodal evidence) most of us reflexologists know of and have discussed the healing powers and rejuvenation obtained from the earth by going barefoot! Could this new information from the fields of energy medicine+quantum physics verify what we have believed for so long?

The best points to connect or use when earthing are the acupuncture points, Kidney 1 (Yongquan- Gushing Spring) and Pericardium 8 (Laogong-Labor Palace). I think we will all agree that in reflexology literature both points represent the solar plexus reflex, the latter is used and recommended by Lynn Booth in her diaphragm rocking technique, which you can see in her website video banner, with many other usefull techniques. Actually I remember reading from Lynn's newsletter that it was UK's Prime Minister Gordon Brown who was using this technique on himself one day before a news briefing.
