Dr. Oz on Reflexology, baseball and healing from the heart.

Dr.Oz in his book, "Healing from the heart" also describes the benefits of complementary therapies in his work and the lives of his patients.

At one point he uses the example of a famous baseball player, Frank Torre and the positive effect Reflexology had on him.
Dr.Oz as a surgeon "teaches us" the therapists what he wants from Reflexology and other CAM, that deep restful sleep.
Reminds me of the Greek God Hypnos.

Getting back to Frank Torre, we first have to go back in the past and get a feel of this former athletes life
at that time, on his wiki page we read...

In 1996, as his brother Joe was managing the New
York Yankees to a World Series title over the Atlanta Braves, Torre received a heart transplant from doctors Mehmet Oz and Eric Rose after a two-and-a-half month wait.[4] Due to its proximity to Yankee Stadium, Joe brought him to New York-Presbyterian Hospital for the procedure.[5] Many were worried about Torre dealing with the pressure of watching his brother, but he watched from his hospital bed as Joe managed the Yankees to the World Series title the next night.

Dr Oz is preparing Frank for his transplant and at some point recommends methods to reduce the need for pain medication...

Although he was a good candidate for hypnotherapy, Frank took to another therapy, reflexology, as if it were the ultimate elixir for good health.
A therapy with roots in Ancient Egypt, Greece and China, reflexology is designed, so say its practitioners, to correct or relieve “imbalances” in the body that may be causing illness by manipulating different pressure points on the feet-toes, soles, sides, and heels-that correspond to different organs and parts of the body.
Frank used to like what he called “that footsie thing” so much that his eyeballs would sometimes roll back and he would fall into a deep, restful sleep after a forty-five-to sixty-minute treatment.

This link takes you to the specific page in the book.

Frank kept on having Reflexology until he passed away,
says Dr. Oz, thats what worked for him.

There is one other sentence that really got to me and I want to share here with you...
"The saddest patients are those who seem to have given up the fight for life."

Never give up!
