in an effort to seek legislation to be licensed and regulated separately from masseuses got senators Jim Alesi, John Bonacic and Marty Golden to sit with their shoes and socks off and get a Reflexology session - the reporter described it as a foot rub (sic). Golden had expressed displeasure with the reporters intent to post this photograph, it seems he has clairvoyant abilities as the follow up on this story proves. For non-Americans information, the senators who got Reflexology are Republican.
Now the follow up on the story goes like this: We read here, posted March 24 (3 days later) that the "Dems release anti-Golden-foot-massage video". The video is titled “Stand Up for New Yorkers,” which calls on Senator Marty Golden and his out-of-touch Republican colleagues to focus on the difficult decisions facing the state, not on having their toes rubbed."
Now first of all let me make clear that I am not in favor of Republicans nor Democrats I do not even vote in the USA!
Secondly I think that the way the Democrats handled this by using it in their favour is an excellent oppurtunity for the New York Reflexologists to do more Lobbying!
It is something like "Deus ex machina" latin for "god from the machine" in Greek "ἀπὸ μηχανῆς θεός," - apò mēkhanḗs theós, which is a plot device whereby a seemingly inextricable problem is suddenly and abruptly solved with the contrived and unexpected intervention of some new event, character, ability, or object.
During the Democrats video we hear about something important everywhere in the world, New Yorkers jobs, but is this not the same exact reason why the NYRSA visited the republicans, about their jobs, their profession as Reflexologists? Maybe they should offer to give Reflexology to the Democrats too, since they too care about peoples jobs and at the same time support the Republican senators that are being hassled because they received it in the beginning.
My interest in this story is that in Greece and many other countries around the world, Reflexologists are having difficulties with legislation. The way associations like NYSRA handle this problem inspires and affects all of us.
Vote for Reflexology!
Golden's answer here
As for the massage, he said there was nothing wrong with taking 10 minutes out of his day to learn about reflexology, a stress-reduction technique that focuses on the pressure points of the body's extremities. Practioners are looking for the state to recognize and license them as a profession seperate from message therapists.
"Should we not get our blood pressure done when it's [at the Capitol], or our hearing checked, or kidneys?" he asked. "This is new and gives us an opportunity to see if should be licensed and approved," Golden said.
